Dubai has no shortage of women's communities. Brunches, networking breakfasts, WhatsApp groups with three hundred members and a pinned message nobody reads anymore. Events where you collect business cards and leave wondering why you feel emptier than when you arrived.

I know, because I attended a lot of them.

There is nothing wrong with networking. Connection is everything. But I kept leaving those rooms feeling like I'd performed rather than connected. Like I'd presented the polished version of myself and left the real one in the car.
